Aviation Exemption Form

Please submit one form for each aircraft in order to waive your annual aircraft registration fee.

  • Approved exemption requests are only valid for one calendar year depending on the exemption requested.
  • Please notify WSDOT Aviation within 30 days if your exemption status changes.
FAA N Number
An aircraft is exempt from registration if it meets conditions addressed in RCW 47.68.250 or RCW 82.48.100.
Check the condition that applies to your aircraft, supply any additional details and provide your full legal name to serve as your signature.
An aircraft owned by and used exclusively in the service of any government or any political subdivision which is not engaged in carrying persons or property for commercial purpose.
An aircraft registered under the laws of a foreign country.
An aircraft which is owned by a nonresident and registered in another state, if the aircraft remains in the state or is based in this state, or both for a period less than ninety days.
Large private, nonresident aircraft as defined in RCW 82.08.215 in Washington exclusively for the purpose of repairs, alterations, or reconstruction, or for the purpose of continual storage of not less than one full calendar year.
An aircraft engaged principally in commercial flying constituting an act of interstate or foreign commerce.
An aircraft owned by a commercial manufacturer while being operated for test or experimental purposes, or for the purpose of training crews for purchasers of the aircraft.
Aircraft that are (a) Owned by a nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income taxation under 26 USC Sec. 501(c)(3) of the federal internal revenue code; and (b) exclusively used to provide emergency medical transportation services.
An aircraft being held for sale, exchange, delivery, test, or demonstration purposes, solely as stock in trade of a Washington State Aircraft Dealer Licensed under Title 14 RCW.
